    And

Going With God-Veterans-Day 2009 by Apostle Joseph B. Howard Sr.

    http://atthewell.ning.com/group/christianwriterscorner/forum/topics/going-with-god-veterans-day

You stay up for 16 hours

He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a 'headache', and call in sick.

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.

He doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.

He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.

He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.

He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.

He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.

He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.

He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.

He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.

He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.

He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.

He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.

He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.

He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.

Show some love, say a prayer...

    Say "Thank You"...

  • I'm Not Poor- It's My Expectations!

When we have an, 'I'll Do For You-If You Do For Me' mentallity, the blessing we recieve can only reflect our original intentions... which is getting not giving. This attitude is never justified and does not produce the expected end. The manipulative exchange does not yield anything lasting because we cut out the true source of our supply... In truth, cliches like, "One Hand Washing The Other" is only useful when a sink is involved.
We are not the source of the blessing, but merely channels or conduits of a higher power, that chooses from the investment of HIS store-house. All that the Father has stored within us is for a particular use... Not for bribes or worthless secular exchange. We are to make only John 5:19 investments that yield heavenly dividends.
... "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! ... You're a good and faithful servant! You proved that you could be trusted with a small amount. ...
    Matthew 25:23
It is of no earthly or heavenly good to prostitute our inner/self worth for what appears to be Jacks, magical beans. Your dispensations should always reflect resolution of the Father. Who and what lies within us is far more abundant than what the world has to offer! With this knowledge, you become aware that it is impossible to make a profitable trade based on 'Just Getting'. For the value is in the friction of the true exchange, the touch that lies in the relationship of The Transaction. The GIVE that calls forth sacrifice of dying to self. Real wealth lies in the ability to become filled when you are the one releasing the gift... For anything less would not allow you to become HALLOWED, and then REFILLED. Anything less than the intention of a love-release, will leave you casting your pearls before Matthew 7:6 swine.

  • The Inner Battle!

An inner wrestling was taking place... One that meant the life or death of his very soul. For He had been called a con-man-liar-trickster all his life. Why should the generational curse end now? Still Jacob battled every principle that his life had been based upon... but he wasn't alone! HIS mighty GOD was with him in the heat of the battle, as he yelled out to his assailant!...
"I wont let you go unless you bless me!" Genesis 32:26

At this point Jacob was struck in the place that gave him balance and structure... His hip-bone. The blow would cause him to limp for the rest of his life!
The battle lasted until the breakthrough-of the blessing... A new day...

Only in the death of his stance and the birth of GODS day, would Jacobs identity change from a hustler to 'Victorious/Is-rael' meaning-You have struggled with both GOD and man and won.
Only from this inner struggle would man ever know that the blessing is in the midst of the battle!

  • Fear-Anger-Silence

“Fear is the cheapest room in the house. I’d like to see you in better living conditions…”

    Author unknown.

This is one of the most accurate statements I’ve ever read. The only thing that I would add is that ‘fear’ is also a very small room. It keeps you close so that you’ll never be lonely...

  • Weeds!

When we spot weeds in the gardens of our life, know that they did not just spring up over night... The seed was planted a long time ago, germinating in the rich receptive soil of our hearts.

... Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; ... When sin grows up, it gives birth to death. ...
    James 1:15

We didn't just start smoking, lying, back-biting and cheating. Our nature is not to fight and disrespect our loved ones...
A seed was planted in our Adam And Eve state. A state when we were to young or imature in CHRIST to not be effected, to pray, to run, to recognize...
The seed germinated in long, dark silences of demonic ignorances and took on a life of it's own.
    BUT...
No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
    John 3:9 NIV

    As For The Weeds...
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor; and he will gather his wheat into the garner, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire ...
    Matthew 3:12

@tau_1 - I believe that is exactly what I am doing... In my tribute to the women of the bible... In allowing women to relate their current day struggles to the lessons taught by the women in the bible... Perhaps I am not understanding your point of view. It is an easy misconception given the lack of

but the King's second wife, Esther, had much for which to thank Vashti. King Ahasuerus might not have been so predisposed to forgive Queen Esther her brazen disobedience had not his first wife taught him that, Like it or not, some women will make their own decisions.
